National President, Michael H. Kaplan

 President's Message

You will see a recurring theme appearing in this message.  With spring soon approaching we find ourselves with busy work schedules between operating our boilers, heating systems, and our chillers at any given time we may have the aforementioned systems running simultaneously or independent of each other we must remember to be careful and work safely while making any changes or adjustments on the aforementioned systems.  We also, should be checking our critical systems in the spring while there is no heavy demand on the electrical grid.

As we speak about spring, if your payment for dues is not received by April 1st, you will be dropped as a member, please send in your payment prior to April 1st.  If for some reason you have not yet received an invoice for your 2008 dues, please contact the National Office at 413-592-6273 and make sure we have all the current and correct information on file.  Spring can also stand for new beginnings I personally would like to see a new beginning by not having any of our members dropped due to non-payment of dues.  In addition, the spring also brings us to our next Board Meeting, which will be Saturday, April 26th at the National Office.

Spring is also the time of year that you’re local chapters, State Associations, and the National starts, looking for volunteers to run for office.  If I may paraphrase our thirty-fifth President, John F. Kennedy who once said “ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”  So let me say to you “ask not what NAPE can do for you, but what you can do for NAPE.”  You can make a difference by either being involved as an officer or committee member.  So step up to the plate and let your voice be heard instead of staying in the background.

Finally, spring is also the time to start making your plans and reservations to attend this year’s National Convention, which will be held in Philadelphia , PA at the Historic District Holiday Inn.  The dates are July 7-13, 2008 .  The educational seminars will be held on Monday July 7th and Tuesday July 8th.  On Monday July 7th Delval Equipment who is a Cleaver Brooks representative will do a seminar on Boiler Operations, and on Tuesday July 8th Touzar-Trane will do a seminar on Chiller Plant Operation, plus there is so much to see and do in the Philadelphia area.

     Respectfully Yours,

     NAPE National President
