The Pioneer Valley Engineer

President’s Message

November 2020

The arrival of November means several things:  Thanksgiving menu, pumpkin spice season, apple pie baking and maybe a pecan pie or two.  Perhaps most importantly it is nearly election time.  Susan B. Anthony reminds us “We must never forget the importance of making our voice heard.  Someone struggled for your right to vote, use it.”

I believe our flag is more than just cloth and ink.  It is the universally recognized symbol that stands for freedom and liberty.  It is the history of our nation, and its marked by the blood of heroes who died defending it, making the privilege to vote our patriotic duty.  Please join me in voting this November 3rd.

Our October business meeting was Wednesday October 7th in our classroom. We learned that there are 7 students in our 2nd fireman’s class and its going well.  Our online C.E. class continues to be helpful to firemen and engineers from across the state.  I have been mentioning for a while that outside of our members and our field, no one knows who we are or what we do.  We have a few ideas to change that and one of them is to advertise on local radio.  Please come to our November business meeting and help us get our message out to the public.  Our November business meeting will be Wednesday November 4th  5 p.m. at the Ames Privilege classroom.  Please continue to wear masks, wash hands and maintain social distancing as this pandemic drags on.  We at Chapter 4 wish you and yours well and hope to see you soon.

Be safe,

Tim Flouton
